Hello e-friends! Sorry I've been a little slow on the updates for the past week or so, but I have been absolutely overwhelmed with work. Most of Saturday was spent at home, trying to get another couple of pages of thesis written. During breaks I trawled the internet for freeware games to pass the time (so lonely without Gemma!), here are a couple that were a lot of fun:
Knytt is an absolutely charming little game. You play the part of the Knytt, a little monkey type thing that is abducted by aliens. The UFO he is in crashes in a planet and parts of its engine are scattered all over the place! The knytt needs to explore the world and get back all of the engine parts to be reunited with his family!

Knytt is both very short, taking only an hour or two to complete, and very simple. Its beauty comes from the really immersive and surreal world you explore. It's a lot of fun just walking around and looking at the peculiar and bizarre creatures that populate the world.
It is bloody hard to explain the concept behind this game, so I'll let this video do the work:
3d puzzle game with some sort of portal gun. Utterly mind destroying, but a lot of fun. Narbacular Drop is basically a freeware version of Portal (designed by the same people). It's only four levels but it is a lot of fun to play through. There are a lot of fan-made levels, but I haven't had chance to play any of them yet.

note to the local theorists: Have a nice time in the Netherlands, see you soon.
