One of the things I have always had a morbid fascination with is looking at the public faces of people who do horrendous, horrendous things. With the recent rise of the internet and as social networking sites become ever more popular, more and more people have an online presence. It's inevitable, therefore, that some people who go on to commit awful crimes will have a public online presence. For whatever reason I can't ever resist having a look. I don't really know what I'm searching for: hints that they're not human, the suggestion that they are completely unhinged, or maybe just a little bit of insight into why the fuck they did it?.
Possibly the scariest thing is that even the worst of the worst look like you or me, there is never any hint in their public space that they were living on the edge and I wouldn't give them a second glance in the street. Turns out the guy that is currently being held by police on suspicion of going on a prostitute-murdering rampage has a myspace page.
As with all the others he just appears to be a normal guy (37 years old, worked at Tesco). It's not like he has put "Interests: Strangling" in his profile or anything and this is the thing that really creeps me out. Hell, he'd fit right in in the department (well, except for the alleged hooker slayings)

late edit: This only just occured to me, but why did the BBC publicise this guy's identity before he was even charged with anything? His life is over now even if he is innocent
even later edit: haha why the fuck would you give an interview like this if you went-a-murderin'
"I'm a friend of all the girls. I was closest to Tania. And Gemma as well. I was close to others as well. But I should have been there to watch over them." He also said: "I don't have alibis for some of the times - actually I'm not entirely sure I have tight alibis for any of the times..."
Gemma and Tania, the ones I was closest to are the best looking girls who do this in Ipswich. In fact, they were probably the top five. Over time I have been involved with most of the girls. If you count, there are about 50 over the last year."
And he added: "From the police profiling it does look like me - white male between 25 and 40, knows the area, works strange hours. The bodies have got close to my house."
"there is something about me women do not like."
He must want to be caught...
