I'm leaving on a jet plane for a long haul flight to Hawaii for an observing run next week (I'll try to blog some pretty pictures for you). In the meantime, I'm going to have a lot of downtime in the next week or so, and what better way to spend it than in the company of a good book? (Okay, there are lots of more appealing alternatives...).
My problem - I have a nasty habit of starting multiple books and tend to read slowly (and end up not finishing them). Rarely do I find a decent book that I can rattle through. What I'd like to find for the trip is something light hearted, not too long (so it's not too bulky), but not so short I'll finish it on the way there. What is the perfect flight book?
I'm about to finish Laurie Lee's autobiography Cider With Rosie, which has been pleasant bedtime reading - it sends me off to sleep with a nice nostalgic feeling about times lost to history. I'm ready for something else though. Does the Internet have any answers? I thought if someone recommends a good book, then I could blog about it while I'm journeying... a sort of astroshack book club.
