I love money. Now, I don't mean that in a tight-fisted, greedy way. I mean in the actual physical paper and coins way. I've always enjoyed going to the post-office before I've gone away on holiday to get that first peek of what I'll be spending while away. Something that, in many countries, millions of people take utterly for granted, to me looks strange and interesting. I like to look at how the notes have been designed. What qualifies a good note design?? Clearly, one of the most important things is to ensure your banknotes and coins are difficult to forge. Many banknotes incorporate famous faces, or special icons that people think best represent their country. I think you can tell a lot about a country by studying its notes. With this in mind, I was pretty pleased to come across this website, containing, apparently, all the world's currencies. I've picked out some of my favourites.
A great place to start is Africa. From the few I've looked at, African countries seem to like putting wild creatures on their notes. The Belgian Congo likes elephants and bison:

Whereas, Somalia is partial to a little bit of leopard:

But, beware, not all African money is full of cute animals- Camaroon just loves its demonic children.

Now, onto the Pacific Islands. The Cook Islands have lovely money:

I'd be tempted to go just to be able to use them!! Whereas the Jason Islands off the coast to South America have exactly the same design for all their notes, the only difference is that they are different colours (perhaps the designer charged over-the-odds).

And, who is the greasy bloke- I hope its Jason!
Now, to finish up I will show you my favourite of the ones I've looked at so far. Ladies and Gentlemen, I present to you the banknotes of Antartica:

Antartica: The only place to have an ecological disaster on its banknotes.
