Yes, that's right. It's time for everybody to get a bit of practice at SF2. It's easy enough to do for free and I'll show you how. You just need two things.
1) An emulator
2) A copy of the SF2 cartridge
Step 1) Go to mame.net, and download whichever version of MAME is suitable for your computer. It has been ported to absolutely everything, including the Amiga and some sorts of digital cameras. I would recommend one of the versions with a frontend because MAME is a commandline tool and is a bit hard to use. MAME32 for Windows is really good. MAME allows your computer to emulate everything from the NES/Master System to the SNES/Megadrive through to a lot of older arcade machines.
Step 2) You need a copy of the cartridge. I don't want random people being able to Google search something of dubious legality on my blog so, without using any obvious identifying words, here is the thing you seek. Most cartridges are available on the web without too much hassle, I'll show people where if they're interested.
If you are using MAME32 then here are some more detailed instructions:
1. Unzip the MAME32 zip file and copy the cartridge zip file into the /roms/ subdirectory.
2. Start MAME32 and click File > Audit Games
3. Click the name of the game and Sonic Boom!
I actually put the arcade version of the game up on the website for extra nostalgic goodness. The default keys are a bit tricky to get so here are a few pointers
esc - quit
1 - 1p start
2 - 2p start
6 - put coin in slot
tab - configure keys
Have fun.
